Spontaneous Acts of Gratitude

We took the kids to see the High School Musical Summer Celebration at the Coliseum last week. It was essentially the Greatest Hits CD with look-a-likes lip-syncing to the music. We had a great time and the show was really cool.look-a-likes lip-syncing to the music. We had a great time and the show was really cool.

About 3/4 through the show, Karizma and Koke headed into the "mosh pit" with about 100 other pre-teens. She had been gone for about 1 song when she rushed back to our seats. She ran right up to me and gave me a huge hug and the headed back to sing along up front.

Even in the middle of the show, she wanted to take a second to express her gratitude for the experience she was having. I love that! I want to be more like that with God.

Sure it's good to say thanks after, but when we can, in the midst of our enjoyment, tell God thanks for what we have...that's worship. That's what Lewis meant by "running up the sunbeam to the Sun" and "turn ever pleasure into an occasion for adoration."

So whatever you take pleasure in today...take a moment and thank the Giver. (James 1:17) When you get to the middle of that filet mignon...when you feel the comfort of your bed...when you jump into the pool...when you feel the cool breeze as the sun sets...when you chase the fireflies...

Take a moment and find a way give your heavenly Dad a hug to say thanks!
